I am having a Toshiba-Tecra M10-12o laptop.
This unit I purchased from Abu Dhabi, UAE with 2 years extended international warranty.
The warranty is still on and currently I am settled in USA.
Now I am having a problem with the LCD screen and want it to be repaired. I went to two Authorized Service Providers for Toshiba in New York but after examining my system they said they are not authorized to repair it as it is a European Model laptop.
For the same problem I got the LCD panel replaced while in Abu Dhabi, UAE from the Toshiba dealer/service provider. But right now I am in New York, USA and not able to get the problem fixed here.
Please kindly advice how to get this problem fixed while in USA for a Europen model laptop.
As far as I know and according to the Toshiba EMAE Warranty page, Toshiba Laptops, Netbooks and Smartbooks are covered by at least 1 year EMEA standard warranty, valid from the date of purchase.
This warranty is only applicable in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa)
Here you can find the EMEA warranty info pdf file. http://goo.gl/wN1mS
So if you are outside the EMAE region and if you don’t have purchased additional warranty extensions, then you have to pay for the service
I agree with PauPau. It seems that internal warranty is only valid in EMEA region and not in USA.
What you can do is contacting the ASP in Abu Dhabi. I’m sure you can send the notebook to these guys and they would repair the unit as usual. International parcels are not so expensive anymore, just talk with the guys what is possible
