Satellite R630-112 - Service Station has never showed any update or alert
Posted: 09-Jun-2011 14:58

Hi,

I'm tired of manually updating my drivers and toshiba software, because Service station does not show any update or alert. I have relied on Tempro Alerts and on manual comparison of versions and dates.

Has anyone had the same problem? Any solution for it?

Hello

Why you try updating the drivers? Do you have any problems with the notebook?

All drivers and tools you can download manually on official Toshiba driver download page:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

Toshiba Service Station can download and install updates automatically. Normally you don’t need this but if it’s not working try reinstall the applications. You can find it on Toshiba page too :)

Fortunately, I have no real problems with the notebook, but keeping software/bios up to date allows improved utilization.
For example, the wireless connection goes down a lot at my work network. I've just received the driver update alerts in Tempro and I'm hoping it will fix the inconvenience.

I've already installed two Value Added Package updates and none has made Service station work.
I just want to avoid having to go to the support page, insert model id and seach through the updates...

This would explain why updates are important for you. In this case I would also search for driver updates because this shouldn’t happen.

Anyway, this can have different reasons. First of all I would disable the WLAN power saving feature of WLAN card. This can be done in Windows power management. You have to do this for every power profile. Maybe this can help you:

Wireless Adapter Settings should be set to maximum performance!

If it doesn’t help you can try a WLAN driver update. You can do this yourself and newest version can be downloaded here:

After all the driver version available is the same I already have installed... useless alert from Tempro.
The wireless setting for plugged in is already at maximum performance. A disconnect+connect solves the problem.
Thank you both for the tips.
I've read somewhere that Service station updates are not available in some countries. Maybe this is the reason why mine doesn't works here in Portugal.
