Satellite L500-19x - Restore disks not working

Good Morning,

I noticed that my Satellite L500-19X's hard disk was on it's way out so I have bought a replacement. I used the tool on the machine to create 2 restore DVD's to re-install the system.

The restore seems to run ok, working through both disks etc. It finishes, asks me to remove the media and the machine reboots.

The Windows 7 startup begins, but get's to "Setup is applying system settings" and I get a message stating "Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware."

Does anyone have any ideas? I've run the restore a couple of times with the same result. I'm rather surprised that the restore CD's are essentially useless.

Is this first time that you have used recovery discs?
If your old disc still works somehow try to reinstall OS using HDD recovery procedure - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm - just to see if the same will happen again.

It is not easy to say what is wrong there but maybe by disc creation some bits were not saved on the right place. Who knows?

Hello

Have you tried the Toshiba recovery disk the first time or with old HDD too?

Usually it should work on every HDD and restore the original out of box settings… If Toshiba recovery disk doesn’t work it’s something wrong with it e.g. scratched or it’s hardware problem.

Have you tried installing Windows using a normal Microsoft disk?
Can you see some scratches on recovery disk?

Thank you for you reply's

I've tried the recovery procedure on the old disk and it seems to work without issue. I shall re-create the disks and try again. The current disks were fairly recently created so are in good condition with no visible scratches etc, but I'll see how making them again goes.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Just to note that the machine is now stuck looping, the screen shows "Please wait... Finishing the installation may take several minutes. Please do not interrupt or shutdown the computer!" It sits there for a few minutes. Reboots the machine and then comes up with the same thing. This has happened about 10 times now.

This means I can no longer create the recovery disks from the application on the machine. What can I do now?

Hello

Reboots the machine and then comes up with the same thing. This has happened about 10 times now.

Don’t worry!!!

You will see the screen very often and it can take up to one hour. Don’t forget that a lot of drivers and tools will be installed and this takes a long time.

During recovery installation, don’t shut down the computer. Just do nothing until it’s finished completely.

I've created a usb stick to use as a recovery medium and I'm getting the same issue.

Sorry to clarify what's happened:

I got a new disk and tried the restore disks and had the original problem.

I then put the old disk in a ran the repair procedure that was linked here, this appeared to work, but looked to be in a loop later on. Once it settled I used the utility to create a USB drive to use as a restore medium

I then put the new disk back in and used the USB drive to install the system. This again had the same issue it had last time.

Can you tell us which HDD do you use for replacement? The same as original one?
