My NB520 crashed during a BIOS update a couple of days ago, and now won't boot at all.
The light comes on, there's a brief disk spin and then dead. As a dodo.

Is this a known issue?

It is known that notebooks with damaged BIOS react as you have described in your posting. With other words BIOS on your NB520 is damaged and you should contact nearest Toshiba service and ask for help.

Thanks Xaver,
I'm doing just that now. Not the easiest of processes though!

Hello

All updates they are available on Toshiba website are pretested by Toshiba so there is no known issue.

Fact is something went wrong during BIOS update, maybe you did run some background applications like antivirus, firewall or something else. This can affect the BIOS update process.

Anyway, now it’s too late and the only way to get rid of this is contacting an authorized service provider in your country. The guys can reflash the ROM module that is necessary in this case.

Here is a list of ASPs:

Remove the battery and AC adaptor… wait some hours and try again…
If this does not work, then hardware malfunction is possible… such case you need help from technician
