Tecra A10-1HL : release a new custumized version of display driver

My Tecra A10, use an old versionf of display driver: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family 8.15.10.1872.

On Intel site now there are recents versions that fixes many issues: I can't install because Tecra A10 use a custumized version of this driver and installing not custumized version from Intel can cause problem!

When Toshiba release the new custumized version? On update site the last and unique release is from 8-13-2009: it's time to update... or not?

You can install the Intel driver if you wish. Just uninstall the Toshiba one first.

Hello

May I ask you why you need a new display driver? Do you have any problems with your notebook or what exactly?

I mean if the official driver from Toshiba works properly I don’t see a reason to update something. Never touch a running system

Yes, I have some issues when Aero Glass is enabled over some application (like Thunderbird 3): the font are rendered not clearly.

Hi buddy,

Akuma is right, you have to uninstall the old display driver firstly. Then you can install the new display driver from Intel website.

You can install the new driver if you navigate to device manager > graphic card. Right click on it then select “update driver”. Now you can choose what driver should be installed.

Hmm… I think you mean the warning from Intel page that you posted in your first posting. Isn’t it?!

Well, generally speaking the drivers on Toshiba website are pretested. That means they work 100% on your notebook model and there is no risk to install them.
Other drivers like on Intel page are not pretested. This doesn’t mean you can’t install them but they are not tested and installation happens on your own risk. Maybe they work or not.

Yes, it is: Intel site not Toshiba, I'm sorry!

The primal question is: why Toshiba don't pretest latest driver and I must install it on my own risk? The last update is from 1,5 years ago...

I think because Tecra A10 is older model and there is already a successor on the market, Tecra A11.

Well, don’t worry about this. Usually the Intel drivers also work. I have tested this on my Satellite U400 and it’s running with Intel display driver. No problems so installation is worth a try.

Please send some feedback after Intel display driver installation, it’s really interesting!

I have succerfully installed latest (release 8.15.10.2302) that grant to enabled D2D.

With D2D enabled my problem is solved!

(p.s.: Toshiba customized driver block D2D on graphic driver)
