I recently bought Satellite A660 and laptop got infected with virus can not start any program even couldn't make any recovery disk. So i try to read FAQS and as per that i tried to make default factory setting from Hard drive.

I follow the instructions "Press 0 & Power Key combination" to boot from hard drive to recover system.

Doing System Recovery from Hard Disk Drive still asking for disks. So in this case is there is any solution. please let me know how can i do system recovery from Hard drive.

thanks

Can you please tell me which notebook model do you have exactly (A660-xxx)?
Is this European or US model?

I don’t understand this. Can you please explain it a little bit better?

Its Toshiba Satellite A660 i7 i bought in Australia few months ago. I was watching cricket online and some sort of virus attacked and i couldn't use any program at all. All program stopped working and message was saying infected with Trojan virus. Thats the reason i couldn't make boot disk.

Now I want to recover back to factory setting from Hard drive image because i don't have Boot Disk.

Ok, I understand you but what you must do is to start HDD recovery installation as described in user’s manuals document. I don’t know how it works on Australian models exactly but if you are able to enter set-up options start “out-of-box” installation and don’t interrupt it.

Can you start recovery installation?
Does this recovery installation run properly?

What happen exactly?

i tried to follow the same instructions which is given on this link http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/items/faq/71

System Recovery from Hard Disk Drive
When i get to step 9 it starts asking for insert disk.
it shouldn't ask for disk because i am trying to recover from hard drive.

Also i tried to use old technique; which is make a dos boot disk install Partition manager on boot disk. Boot from boot disk in dos mode and use partition manger and unhide partition and activate to boot from there. Partition manager didnt support hard drive on satellite laptop.

I am looking other options if you can find as well please

Hi anilda,

Yes, it’s really strange that HDD recovery asks you for installation disk. I have also tested the HDD recovery on my A660 but I was never prompted for this disk.
Maybe something is wrong with HDD recovery files so it asks for the disk…

If you didn’t create the disk and HDD recovery doesn’t work I think you should contact an authorized service provider in your country. The guys should be able to order a recovery disk for you, then you can reset your notebook to factory settings. Just boot from the disk and follow the screen instructions, drivers and tools will be installed automatically.

Good luck! :)
