Wait a moment. Do you have problem with functionality or you want to enable buttons illumination?
If you want to enable button illumination you can, I think, change settings in BIOS.

Yes you are right. In BIOS you can enable/disable backlight function.
This with functionality is strange.
Do you use original operating system you got with your notebook or you have installed own version (which one)?
Since when you have noticed this problem?

I've looked all through bios menu and cant find anything about illumination, even tried installing the bios update but that doesnt seem to wanna work either.
Im using windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.
I even re-installed the OS to see if that might solve it but it hasnt.

OK sorry maybe your L notebook doesn’t have this option in BIOS. Many other models have it definitely.
Problem is as follow:
Windows 7 64 bit is supported but you didn’t got it with your notebook and I don’t know how you have installed it. Fact is that all necessary drivers and Toshiba specific tools and utilities must be installed in right installation order.
I will send you install order for Vista. Generally speaking, the principle for Win7 installation should be the same.
Windows 7
AMD Driver
Sound Driver
LAN Driver Version
Touch Pad Driver
Card Reader
Modem
Wireless LAN Driver
Camera
Patches
TOSHIBA Value Added Package
TOSHIBA Hardware Setup Utility
TOSHIBA Supervisor Password
TOSHIBA Face Recognition
TOSHIBA ConfigFree
TOSHIBA Assist
I hope this will help you.
You know there is no some trick. Toshiba value added package contains several tools and utilities and one of them is button support utility. By default it should work after VAP installation.

Hey,
Generally speaking the illumination buttons are controlled by Value Added Package so theoretically that’s the only tool that you need for these buttons. After installation it must work.
What version of VAP have you installed?
I would also recommend loading the default settings in BIOS and try a BIOS update if the above one didn’t do the trick.
