Satellite L550-13u doesnt have access to internet

Hello,

I have my laptop for one year, and last week I got a problem, the laptop didn't have acces to internet but my other laptop (acer) had acces to internet.
My bro solved the problem. And it's now happening again, and he isnt here..
That's why I post here. So, I'm guessing that's a problem from the realtek software, or could you give your ideas and solutions if you had the same problem please.
(I'm a student and I need connection because I was about to download some packs from ubuntu to learn use developpers files.)

Note: My laptop got windows 7 32 bits and Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick 32 bits; just to give the infos on the laptop.

Are you using Wireless or Ethernet LAN?

Have you disabled your Firewall?

Have you tried another Browser such as Firefox?

Does the Internet fail to connect both in Windows and Linux?

Do you have the latest BIOS installed and set the defaults?
