TE2300 XP Install wont boot?

Hi everyone,

I am attempting to reinstall XP on a TE2300 (PT230A-00297) for a friend, and have run into problems getting the Win XP install disk to boot.

I've put a new HDD in there, and the BIOS boot sequence is set correctly but the system still wont boot from the DVD drive, it seems to skip that and moves straight to LAN boot which is next on the list, ending up at the HDD which is of course unformatted at this point.

I've got an older HDD that is about to die which has XP already on it, and when installed in the machine everything runs fine and that has allowed me to confirm that the DVD drive is functioning correctly.

Any ideas why the system wont boot from the CD/DVD?

Any ideas how I can commence an install if I can't get it to boot from the CD/DVD?

Does it mean the same installation disc was bootable with old HDD or how to understand this?
If you have now compatible HDD and original Microsoft installation disc I don’t see any reason why the WXP installation should not start.

Anyway, set BIOS to default settings and start notebook again but this time press C button several times at start-up. This will force optical disc drive to start as first bootable device.

It will be interesting to have more info about this new HDD.
When you start your notebook try to press C key several times. It will force optical disc drive to start as first bootable device.
