I want to restore the original XP Home OS on NB100-12N.

There are 2 problems:
1. The recovery-partition is deleted
2. There is no external CD-drive available

I got a NB100-12N here with the original product recovery-cd and the licencekey and so on. How do I prepear a USB-Stick to do, what the recovery-cd is doing?

The Windows product key on the bottom side of your notebook is an OEM license key. That means this can’t be used with other Windows version. If you have Windows copy disk, you can make a bootable usb drive in 2 ways:

1. Manually with command prompts

http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=53324&tstart=60

2 Automatically using programs like WinSetupFromUSB or Novicorp WinToFlash

Thank you for the tipp, but this is exactly, what I can`t do.
I just have the recovery cd, no other Windows XP Home Version -> that would make things a lot esier!

I need a way to get the USB-Stick to do exactly the same thing than the recovery-cd (i mean, this thing is bootable, so there must be a way to get it on a Stick)

What I can understand that you have a recovery CD for your netbook but because there is no external CD/DVD Reader, you can not recover, right ?
And you want to copy that recovery disc to a USB Flash Memory so you can boot from the USB, right ?

Well, I have a possible solution, but I hope you have a good knowledge dealing with .iso files and such stuff.

Stuff you will need:

1. Another computer with CD/DVD Reader
2. A blank 4GB USB Stick ( It will be formatted, so backup all data on it if any)
3. Magic ISO program. Download it from Google (30 days trial is enough for the task)
4. Your original recovery disc

Steps: (On your other computer)
1. Download Magic ISO (from here: http://www.magiciso.com/Setup_MagicISO.exe)

2. Setup and Install the program.

3. Insert your Recovery Disc into the CD/DVD Reader

4. Open MAGIC ISO

5.Click on "Tools" in the Toolbar

6. Select the "CD/DVD Driver" (the one you are putting the Recovery Disc into)

7. Click on the "Browse Folder" beside "Output Folder" and name the file (for example "RecoveryCD")

8. Select the Output Format as "Standerd ISO Image File *.iso"
9. Click "OK" and wait till the image is copied to your Hard disk.

10. Go to where you have saved your RecoveryCD.iso

11. Right Click on it > Magic ISO > Mount (It will ask you to download discdriver or something like that) -- Just download it

12. After that Mount it

13. Now take care of the Virtual Driver letter. (Like H:\ for example.) It is very important to take care of that

(If there is any unclear step, please ask about it before proceeding forward)

(both symbols < and > are ignored. Don't type them)

14. Open the Command Prompt

15.Type <cd C:\> to change the directory.

16. Insert your USB Stick. and take care of the driver letter (Like I:\ for example)

17. Type <diskpart> then press Enter, then after a while type <list disk> then press Enter.

18. Now it will show all your connected storage media including your hard disks and your USB Stick

19. It will display also every storage media size

20. Now if you don't know which disk to select . select the least one in space by typing <select Disk X> (X is your Disk number)

21. It will show you the letter of the disk. See if the letter displayed under (Ltr) is the same as the one in "My Computer".

22. If it is the same, you can go to step 25

23. If not type <list Disk> and select another disk <select Disk X>

24. Do that till your find same letter in "My computer" is the same letter displayed under "Ltr" in the window

25. YOU HAVE TO DO THE ABOVE STEPS FROM 17 TO 24 CORRECTLY OR YOU WILL DAMAGE THE DATA ON YOUR HARD DISK IF YOU SELECT THE IMPROPER DISK NUMBER.

26. Now, type <clean> then "press Enter type <create partition primary > then type <select partition 1> then press Enter

27. Then type <active> then press Enter.

29. Type <format fs=fat32>. This process will take lot of type. So grab a cup of coffee till it finishes.

30.After it finishes, Go to "Go to My Computer" and check your USB Stick Letter again.

31. Type <exit> then press Enter. Then type <cd Windows\System32> then press Enter

32. Assuming that the Virtual Driver letter is H:\ and the USB Stick letter is I:\ type the following
<xcopy H:**.** /s/e/f I:>

33. Wait till it finishes, it will take sometime and may seems to hang on some files. Just wait for it.

34. You are ready to go. Boot from your Recovery USB on your netbook.

(I am not responsible for any damage of data that may happen due to not following the steps as instructed exactly)
(If there is any unclear step, please ask about it before proceeding forward)

Good Luck..
