HI,
I have recently bought a new Satellite A660-11M and none of the USB ports seem to work. Ive tried plugging in everything: 3 different mice, memory sticks, ipod but nothing seem to register. It doesnt even say the device isnt working, when i plug it in, nothing happens
thank you

Hi,
Pretty easy to solve it if it's Os/driver related issue. Reinstall/update chipset utility from the Toshiba Driver Page or go to the device manager, click on ,,Universal serial bus contollers,, to uninstall it, and restart the laptop then

Hi buddy,
Are you running preinstalled Windows version from Toshiba or have you installed your own Windows version?
Anyway, remove all USB ports from device manager and restart your notebook. After restarting the ports will be recognized again and the problem should be fixed.

Check in Bios or hw setup if Usb legacy support is enabled

I had the same ISSUE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's not hardware and it's not software. it's design issue. the ports are very tight.
Plugging in the usb, seems to be in, but it is not in, far enough.
Solution: Insert USB plug FIRMLY and ALL THE WAY IN. As soon as you do, you will see a pop up on your screen.
Give it a try and report back.

So, try to restore the factory settings. If usb ports still don't work,it can be usb controller malfunction on the motherboard.

Hi sharkbait,
I agree with Jeka and you should try to restore factory settings. If it’s a software or driver issue, it can be fixed with reinstalling Windows from Toshiba recovery disk because the recovery disk will restore out of box settings.
If you have the same problems after reinstalling you should contact nearest authorized service provider. The guys can check the USB ports and replace it if it’s really necessary.
