Up-graded my fingerprint drivers yesterday. I have not had any freezes since.

hello,

thank you very much for the update. downloading window 7 service pack 1 also help a little and i think it will further enhance the new fingerprint software update.

I have a Tecra A9 (5years old) with Winsows XP that has been rebuilt many times and has had this problem for years. I recently upgraded the HDD and it has been better (happends once a week rather that 3 time a day). Exactly same symptom: freezes and fan goes to maximum. I think this is a fundamental problem with toshibas as I have never seen this with other laptops. I am shocked to see so many complaining of the same fault even on the latest machines!!! I am going to try and get another brand!!!

Hi

This OS freezing on Tecra M11 unit has been caused by fingerprint software.
This has been solved by update of fingerprint software….

Found this in this Toshiba document:
Intermittend hang up or freeze of your machine (with possible high rotation FAN) under Windows 7 - 32 Bit / 64 Bit
