I have a Toshiba L350 Sat notebook. Its presently running on Windows Vista. Due to a virus I have recently had to reinstall Windows. The Laptop is now virus free.

My problem is that when I attempt to play a couple of games that I have the screen goes black and I have to do a forced reboot using the Power button. There are no other noises running in the background and control alt delete doesnt work either.

Is or has anyone else suffered from this problem and if so how did they rectify it? I will attempt to re-installthe drivers when I get home this morning but I cant think of anything else that might be causing the problem....

Any help would be appreciated

Hi

Which disk you have used for reinstalling Windows?

Normally if you use the Toshiba recovery disk everything should work properly after this. These settings are pretested by Toshiba.

Furthermore you could try to clean your notebook by using compressed air spray. This could blow out the dust from the cooling ventilators and therefore it’s not necessary to disassemble the notebook.

Hi

In my opinion you should firstly check if new display driver might help to solve the issue with these games…
Maybe an newer graphic card driver is required… in most cases it’s the case when games don’t run properly.

Check this!

Many thanks for your reply.

The re-installing was done by standard DVD to load up Windows 7 or Vista.

The relevant drivers were downloaded from the Toshiba site applicable for the Laptop and its current OS.

The black screen only appears to occur when I attempt to play a game, otherwise it works fine.

I might do a complete wipe of the harddrive and then install a new OS followed by the appropriate drivers

Never had a Toshiba reinstall kit so cant comment on that aspect. But thanks again.

Firstly sorry for duplicate post (If I have) not quite used to this Forums system yet.....

I think that I might do a complete wipe of the Laptop and install windows again and then try the appropriate drivers, if worst comes to worse I just wont be able to play my games on the laptop whilst at work.............Drat.....

But thanks for help and I will let you know what happens......

thanks again
