Satellite L40-17U only displays 4:3 ratio in games?

Hi,

Is there any way to get the Satellite L40-17U to display widescreen in games? It only seems to manage 4:3 which leaves two black strips down each side of the screen. Same in both Win XP and Win 7 regardless of the res that the game is set to run at.

Thanks for any help.

Best Regards

Sean

Hello Sean

Have you checked game video settings?
Is there something you can change?

By the way: which game you play when this happen?

Hi,

It happens with every game I try from something simple like Plants Vs Zombies to more system taxing stuff like Need for Speed Most Wanted or Call of Duty 2. Alltering the ingame resolution has no effect, that's to say it does alter the resolution but the display still displays in 4:3 leaving a black band down each side of the screen. I'm at a loss to understand why this is.

Cheers

Maybe you should check the Intel graphic card settings.
As far as I can see, the SATELLITE L40-17U support Intel graphic chip

I’ve got an notebook with an Intel graphic card and in my case the Intel graphic card control panel contains an option called: maintain aspect ratio and scale full screen
In case you will choose the option “scale full screen”, the borders shouldn’t be visible anymore.

Also changing the display resolution might help.
