thanks guys its an atheros card but thats all i know at the moment, the router has a push & connect facilty on it and states
" requires the use of netgear wireless adapters (wgn111, wnda3100, wg111) or any other adaptor with WPS support
( i am at work and my laptop is at home so cannot get any further info
To be honest I don’t know why the router needs the WPS support.
If you want to connect the notebook to the WLan router then you should ensure that the Wlan card is enabled. Enable the WLan antenna switch (notebooks side) and enable Wlan card using the Fn+F8.
Now you have to ensure that the WLan router would support the same encryption standard like the WLan card.
In most cases it’s WPA.
Configure the WLan settings using Atheros WLan configuration Utility or the Windows own WLan configuration options.
