Satego X200-21U - After Sleep-mode: Fan on maximum speed
Posted: 06-Jul-2009 13:10

Hi

I've got a Toshiba Satego x200-21u.
I often use the sleep mode. I close the display with a snap and the next day I continue.
Sometimes it happens that the fan goes crazy. It runs with maximum speed, like it was too hot.
When I shut it down (not reboot) and switch it on again, everything is fine.

Is there a issue with a driver?
Is it Microsoft's fault?
Or is it really too hot? Is there a tool which shows me the temperatures?

Thx for reading!

Have a nice day,

pAT

Do you close the notebook with opened or closed application?
Does this happen if you close all applications before you use sleep mode?

When you write “sometimes” it is not easy to say why this happen.
Do some tests and try to find out when this happen.

I've got the same problem with my X200-21D.

I have no idea about the reason. Usually I close the laptop with some applications running, but I couldn't experience any coherences between the number of apps running and the frequency of this weird behavior.

Hi

That’s really strange and I never heard about such an issue…

The only option I know at the moment is that you could try to update the BIOS. On the Toshiba website you can download the newest version:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers

Does this work?

I've already tried to update my bios. It improved the situation, but it still happens every second week, I estimate (I always use sleep mode)

Hello

Have you tried to reinstall the notebook using Toshiba recovery disk?

I never heard about such an issue but maybe it’s just software related and so a new installation with factory settings could help you.

If it doesn’t work you should contact an ASP. The technicians have to check the notebook and determine what is causing this issue.
