Satego P100: lags and drops every 2-3sec during gaming

My system is Satego p100 Vista, core 2 duo 1,66Ghz, 2048MB RAM and geforce 7900GS 512MB
I have tested a lot of games:
Company of heroes, Tomb raider Legends, Supreme commander, trackmania nations, Battlefield 2, Far Cry, Gothic 3, oblivion, C&C Triberium wars…
Every time the same lags in 2-3sec. the frame rate goes for example from 50fps to 20fps, than again to 50fps every 2-3sec. and so on…it is impossible to play well even if I set the game graphic level to low after 20-45 minutes the same lagging.
With the tool cpu-Z I see that the CPU is running on desktop on 1000MHz and when he need
the power he goes to 1666MHz but if only a second the cpu do nothing, it set to 1000MHz.
On the one hand it is overheating protection and energy efficient but on the other hand it doesn’t makes any sense by gaming. In game, I run a little bit, the cpu gives in data full speed, slows down lags full speed... Slows down lags full speed... and so on, it makes crazy!!
I can not find any control panel to adjust it. And to set the vista energy setting from efficient to performance do nothing. I have read that the core 2 duo are normally stay extreme cool but some times there are deep in the CPU fore a second high heat-maximums witch are catched from the cooling. I don’t now if that’s the problem but I recognised often that the cpu cooling- fan gives fore no reason, only a second, fullspeed than slow down!?
I can understand that the Toshiba engineers try to give a cool and energy efficient long life for the hardware, but than I could by a business notebook fore 799,-Euro and not this. A system with these hardware settings must be able to give full power without overheating any time.
I hope it is only a driver problem but I don’t think so.

Check this thread:

It’s about Satego performance.
The Vista OS seems to be a reason for the accidentally drop outs.
Install XP if you want to play games!!!
Someone has placed the 3DMark06 results:
3DMark06 Score with Vista 3000-3200 with XP about 3800!! XP is a key babe

Yes, you’re right. Only the Vista drivers are published for the Satego P100.
But in this case I would recommend using the Satellite P100 XP drivers.

Hello everyone,
I have the same exact problems with my p100 in vista as aal including fan performance and overheating, the fan is working at max only in 1 to 2 second bursts. I would really like to hear from competent Toshiba techincan how to resolve problems with fan and cpu performance, since here in Slovenia technicans at Toshiba service don't even know what virtual RAM is?!
Oh and I have P100 with core2duo 2.0 Mhz 2Gb of RAM and GeForce 7900 512 RAM graphic card which is more than two times faster configuration of what Toshiba is selling with Windows Vista computers installed on them. So basically the notebook computers today aren't capable of runnig 3 years old games in 1260x700 with details maxed. So who's fault is it Toshiba's that they don't configure drivers in way that their computers work as fast as Win XP or Microsoft that they don't fix Vista in way that games would normally work on computers that exceed average notebooks by more than two times?
Thank you!

@ Mate
One question; What OS do the game manufacture recommend?
I don’t think it is Vista OS because 3 years ago Vista was only in planning
Thanks

Chad,
with that I meant that if new P100 with Vista can't run three years old games properly it definitely wouldn't new games either, and yes I have tried new games ¨Windows Vista designed¨ too(Supreme Commander) and it's even worse. I don't think it happened the same with Windows Xp when they came out, games from times of Win 98 worked just perfectly on XP, so that means that Vista should backward support games from XP times without performance loss too. But it doesn't so there's definitely something weird with game hardware performance in Vista, because Vista works better with programs like Office 2007 and other 'serious' programs than XP at least in my case, so that's why I think that there's definitely something with Toshiba driver support for Vista and on more thing to prove this is that tabletop computer's(who don't have mother board integrated graphics) game performance in Vista is only 3% worse than in XP.
Thank you for your answers!

So, there are no problems with the drivers. I have CAD running on my machine with Vista, and I tried several versions of drivers for my nvidia card. And I found something out: there is different performance with different driver constellations, but not with the toshiba drivers (i.e. Common modules or such stuff) It´s just that 3rd Party stuff like intel drivers or from nvidia which are not giving the best performance with vista but absolutely supreme performance under XP.
And relating Vista: Vista is not a performance system yet. It´s totally and absolutely overloaded with some unneeded stuff which brakes the system down.
So, if MS is planning to loose their customers, then they have to continue to overload their OS´es with unneeded stuff like Aero or performancerating or what-I-know-what.

Yes sadly, I have to agree with swordbreaker, Vista has many new improvements (mainly for non-game programs) and also some things like Aero which totally hold whole in-game computer performance down.
