Satellite A60: SD-R6112 drive firmware is not able to detect most disks
Posted: 30-Apr-2006 12:42

My Toshiba Satellite A60 has a DVD writer SD-R6112 with Firmware = 1530 is not able to detect most of the disks. I mean it is not able to detect most of the disks which it used to play or run however it runs the Cds provided with the laptops e.g. installation and tools and utilities cds.

Recently I have updated win xp to SP2 and I think this problem is arised because of this (but not sure)....I have tried to reinstall the driver and also tried latest firmware upgrade but it says it doesn't require.

Anybody can please suggest me the solution. I really tried all but it doesn't work.

Hi

The fact is that the every drive doesn’t work with ALL CDs or DVDs.
Sometimes the newest firmware update could solve such issues but you will not get a 100% guaranty that it will work.
I have tested many medias and now I have decided to use the TDKs CDs and DVDs.
I’m satisfied because now I have problems with this medias.

The only solution is to test the medias.

Hi

I agree with Gipsyman. You should know that the drives are not compatible with a all medias (CD/DVD). As far as I know in the user manual you can find a list of compatible and tested CDs and DVDs.
However, the simplest solution is to test the CDs and DVDs.

Ps: I use also the TDKs, my drive has no problems to handle with this CD/DVD.
