I bought a Satellite P850 like 2 months ago,is a great notebook and i love it.
Well the question is,i checked nvidia web page to check last drivers,i saw that my pc got 295.55 and nvidia web page got 301.42,so i tried to update but is impossible. After download and press install it say that is not compatible, what is the way to update them?
It is well known that graphic card manufacturers don’t support cards used on mobile machines and used drivers are supported by notebook manufacturers directly.
Driver preinstalled by Toshiba is bit modified and offer notebook hardware protection (avoid overheating) so it is strongly recommended usage of Toshiba drivers only.
Are you not happy with graphic performance or what?
Well,i bought battlefield 3 one week ago,i tried to run it in ultra, but frames drop to 12-15. While a friend with a 1gb card can run it in ultra at 30 frames. So i did a test in "Can you run it?" and the test said that my machine needed new drivers, that`s why i asked.
All the other about the pc i must say that is perfect. I had an Acer and HP notebook before, and i must say that toshiba support and all looks great.
Go to the driver download page (UK in this example) http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-uk and take Option 2: Automatically find drivers for my NVIDIA products. and select Graphics Driver. This downloads a program that examines your PC and identifies if there is a new driver and offers to download/install it. (The program may not run under Google Chrome)
I have had no problem using Nvidia drivers and until a couple of years ago they would not supply laptop drivers but they now have them "WHQL" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WHQL_Testing ) certified and released to the public.
Im happy about graphic performance but new drivers are supposed to give a better option.
With better option you probably mean better performance but don’t forget that more performance means more heat. That’s the big risk on mobile machines.
