If you use your notebook for private purposes only and if there is no risk for you that someone else can have access to your data I don’t recommend you to set HDD password.

It is very nice and good feature if you have sensible data saved on your HDD and use your notebook in company or take it with you.

All other information you can pick up from the Toshiba document.

What is A HDD Password?
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/FAQ9202JG0000R01.htm

On start-up, the user is requested to enter the HDD password. If this password-protected HDD is built into another PC, then the HDD password will of course be requested.
