Can't wake up my Equium P300 from sleep mode
Posted: 21-Jul-2012 09:18

My Equium P300-16T will not wake from sleep.

If I use Fn F3 I get the message to enter sleep and according to what I have read pressing the power button will wake the machine up but not in my case.

I've also tried the Power Options to automatically enter sleep mode after a specific time but again I can't wake the machine up and have to do a hard reboot.

My OS Is Vista Home Basic.

Anyone offer any advice on how to correct this please?

Thanks
MasterG

Is your BIOS up to date?
If not, update the BIOS…

Furthermore from my experience such sleep mode issues might be caused by corrupted system…therefore new installation might help to solve this too.

Obviously you use own OS installation and not factory settings. According notebook specification your Equium was delivered with Vista 32bit Home Premium.

It is not easy to say what is wrong there.
Have you noticed this issue in the past with original OS too?
Have you the same problem if you use hibernation mode (FN+F4)?

Hi, thanks for all the replies and apologies for the delay.

I have not upgraded the BIOS or changed the OS since new. Always work on the basis of "If it ain't broke don't mend it"

I have tried the Hibernation Mode and that seems to work OK, any ideas why that should be?

Thanks again.

Quick addendum.

Got the FN F4 to work as stated but have to try a couple of times before it seems to work.

Also noticed that there is no Hibernation option when I click where the shut down is shown (Start) nor does it come up as an option when setting what the power button or closing the lid do.

UPDATE

Realised I had System Control 1.4.1 gadget installed and this has direct Hibernation option, much easier to use. Goes into Hibernation straight away.

Just out of interest however have found that if I leave my LAN cable connected the system will come out of sleep/hibernation on it's own. Have to disconnect cable each time.

Any clues (perhaps a BIOS setting) ?

You have to disable the Wake Up on LAN option in BIOS to avoid the automatic wake ups
