Satellite M105 is screwed up now

After solving my TECRA BSoD issues ( well almost) enough to get XP PRO working with the new 1TB drive and some new additional memory I thought i would be clever and put the old 160GB HDD from the TECRA into the Satellite BUT i ahve ended up in deep poo with this PC as well..

Having a never been used legal copy of XP PRO ( well i did use it for a few days with the 1TB drive in this PC) but that HDD is now in the TECRA running on the TECRA's XP PRO OEM Product Code as i ran the Product Recovery CD ..

Eventually i gave up trying to get the Satellite to work and decided i may as well try reinstalling XP PRO

BIG MISTAKE i ended up with mistyped key errors even though i entered the totally correct key info and you need to activate this copy of XP before you can log on errors when i try to log into Windows.

The 80GB HDD that was in this PC crashed a few years ago and a new 80GB HDD was put in and a legal copy of XP was installed.....................however now MS support say that is an illegal copy when i phoned them. I said OK i have a totally unused copy of XP PRO and gave them the key numbers i was expecting them to validate the key that was in the PC but all they did was send me to a totally useless web site now it seems that my totally legal copy is illegal and the only person who knew that key number apart from me was the support guy at MS..................

So i have a Satellite that wont work with the 160GB drive in it and wont let me do anything .............

With the old 80GB drive in it still works fine AND it was working with the 1TB drive in it when i was trying to fix the BSoD on my TECRA so i am totally flummoxed as to what is going on with the 160GB drive in this machine...............that HDD WAS working fine in the TECRA before i swapped over and put in the 1TB HDD

I now have a USB - SATA Caddy so i can look at and change things on this drive i dont really want to re partition/reformat it but it looks like that is my next move

HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP PLEASE.

FIXED IT............NINE DAYS LATER!!! I have no idea what was causing the BSoD really (NO HARDWARE PROBLEMS) but eventually after trying almost everything and getting nowhere i ran the Toshiba Product Recover CD and everything was hunky dory. Then i upgraded the memory (it was not a memory problem) and the HDD and ran the Product Recovery CD with the new 1TB HDD in the PC and XP PRO is working fine BUT i am about to give up on MS OS's and will install Ubuntu Linux initially as a dual boot and see how i get on using that

Had to reformat and repartition the 160GB HDD from the TECRA when i put it in my Satellite as OEM pre-installed MS XP PRO will not allow you to use a 'purchased XP CD i kept being stuck at the enter Admin Password even though i knew there was no password on the account - then of course I discovered on the MS support web site that i cant use any other CD than the recovery CD that came with that PC to repair or reinstall XP
