The computer finds the Wifi (Netgear N600) but wont connect - troubleshoot suggests to turn modem on/off. What I have found to work is to use the WPS button feature - push button on both and it connects. Problem is when I restart computer it wont connect to WIFI (same troubleshoot suggestion above)

A real pain to push the WPS connect button every time turn on computer - I have the box ticked for it to conncect on detection of wifi but it just doesnt work! Why will it connect when I do the WPS button method but not if I enter the passphrase?

You mean this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wi-Fi_Protected_Setup

To be honest I’m not owner of an router which would support this kind of feature so cannot share any experience with you but from my point of view it looks like a router issue and not like WLan card issue….

Are you able to connect your notebook to another Wlan in your environment?

Maybe you should check the manual or your router and should disable this WPS in orer to check if its possible to connect the notebook to your router…
You could also test the connection with “open WLan” but this should be done only for testing purposes…

Generally speaking WLAN connectivity should work without many problems. Al you must do is to configure your router. Later enable WLAN on your notebook and with right password you should be able to connect your notebook to your WLAN.

In my opinion your problem is related to your router. What you can try is to check functionality with other router. If your friends have WLAN at home test it there to be sure if the same problem will occur again.
