Cannot enable the External Microphone on my Satellite

I am trying to install and external headphone microphone using the front jacks, however the computer will not recognise it.
I have tried to enable it but when I follow the instructions to enable the LINE IN only SPEAKERS comes up.

Hi

Could you please post some info about your notebook model?
What Satellite notebook do you have exactly?

Regarding the external mic:
Please connect the microphone to the mic jack available on your notebook.
Then go to control panel -> sound -> recording tab

Here check if external mic is available. If yes, set it as default device.
