Satellite T130-Hard Drive/Disk-Start Up Issue

Hi,

I have a 2 year old T130 which I use daily for work and have experienced no problems at all with it until a few days ago when I noticed that it was taking longer than usual to power up.

I checked that all my updates were up-to-date which they are as far as I'm aware both from Tempro and Windows. I ran an AVG scan and nothing came up out of the ordinary there and I still have over a third of space left on my hard drive.

Everything was fine for a couple of days and then yesterday when I tried to switch the laptop on it wouldn't power up at all-after several tries it has eventually come on and I've been keeping it in sleep/stand by mode until i figure out what is happening. I've run the PC Diagnostic Tool and everything is coming up as a PASS except for the hard disk which is showing up as FAIL. My USB pen is not registering either when I try to use it. This said when I checked the PC Health Monitor it said my HDD was working and that my Hard Disk Drive Status was 'good'.

I'm presuming from the above that it may be a hard drive/disk issue-what is my next step? Can this kind of thing be easily repaired? Am I covered for this as it is a product issue and less than five years since I purchased the laptop?

Thanks for any help.

Hi

If the HDD is not present in BIOS, you have to replace the HDD with a new one.
Do you know how to access the BIOS?
Power up the unit and press the F2 button. Now you should check the first page of the BIOS. Usually the CD/DVD drive and the HDD should be listed with all the details.
If the BIOS could not recognize the HDD, then this means that HDD is faulty.

From my knowledge you could use an simple 2.5” HDD.
Here is a nice instruction containing some pictures and movie how to replace the HDD on T130 series.

Good luck
