Hello

Unfortunately you cannot do anything and you need help from Toshiba service provider. They can delete old password.

Check please - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB4600PR000JR01.htm

Hi

Unknown BIOS password can be removed by an Toshiba authorized service technician only. :(

Well, I wonder is there anything I can do about it?

Does anybody know could an LPT Password Removal Tool found on this link:

www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2006/02/10/remove-clear-toshiba-laptop-bios/

be useful on this model of Toshiba LapTop (Tecra t9100)?

I am asking this because I am in Bosnia and Herzegovina and I do not have any Toshiba service anywhere near my place...

Have no experience with an 3rd party removal tools and to be honest I would not risk a hardware damage using such tools. I’m sure the ASP in available in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Maybe not close to you but in such case you could dispatch the notebook…well this would take some days but I think its much better solution as to risk an motherboard damage.

Just to let you all know that this LPT cross-wired cable worked like a charm on this model of LapTop! :))))))))

So the BIOS password was removed automatically just by powering-on of the LapTop with described cross-wired cable.

But now I've run into another kind of a problem:
it seems that the built-in CD rom does not work :(
(it won't load any bootable Windows CD) and I'm wondering is this Tecra model of LapTop capable of booting from a USB port?

From external floppy disc drive (USB port) yes but I don’t think you can use bootable USB stick. test it.

Optical disc drive exchange is not complicated and you can check on eBay if you can find used ODD for this old Tecra notebook. It is not expensive and you can exchange it in 5 minutes.

Before you would replace the ODD, I recommend cleaning the laser lens.
Mostly the drive cannot read the inserted disks because of the dirty laser lens.
You can try to clean it using cotton wool tip and a little bit alcohol… mostly this is good enough.

No, the problem isn't caused by the dirty laser lens...

When I power-On the LapTop, it displays big red

"Toshiba in touch with tomorrow" logo
(and the CD Rom led flashes),
but then it displays:

"Ide #1 Error" message
(and the CD rom stops flashing then.)

Then I'm stuck as the following message is "Missing Operating System".

Hoverer - it might be interesting to mention that right after the "Ide #1 Error" message is displayed - the CD Rom appears to be completely "dead" then (won't even eject the disk by pressing the eject button UNTIL I RESTART THE LAPTOP?!)

I guess that the LapTop attempts to address the CD rom, and due to some reason it can't address it, then it kills the power supply to the CD rom (or what else could explain rejection in ejecting the CD Rom door AFTER the "Ide #1 Error" message)

I will try to get another CD rom just to clear is this the problem on the CD Rom side or on the LapTop side...
