Camileo H30 does not play movies running Win XP

I recently bought a Camileo H30. I installed the AcrSoft software.
I also installed a VLC player; the needed Windows MediaPlayer10 is up to date.
I run WindowsXP home edition.

When I try and play recorded videos either directly from the Camileo or drag and drop the files onto the desktop, the result is the same. The players (Windows Media Player and VLC) freeze, and my mouse doesn't work.

I was told that I needed a H264 codec in order to play the video files on Windows Media Player 10.
So I downloaded that. Still the same issue occurred.

Can anyone offer me any guidance on this?

Oddly enough, when I loaded the ArcSoft software on a computer with Windows Vista, the video files played with no issue.

Thanks!
Tonny

Hi

I’m confused: why? Because you said this:

When I try and play recorded videos either directly from the Camileo or drag and drop the files onto the desktop, the result is the same. The players (Windows Media Player and VLC) freeze, and my mouse doesn't work

…and then you said this:

Oddly enough, when I loaded the ArcSoft software on a computer with Windows Vista, the video files played with no issue

Did you use ArcSoft software to play an movie running Win XP too or just running Vista?

First of all you should copy the movie files from camcorder to computer HDD. I would recommend creating an folder for these files.
I’ve got the same camcorder and I inserted the SDHC card to my notebook in order to move the files. The full HD movies/files are recorded in avi format. Usually the Windows media player or VLC player should be able to play these kind of file format.

I use the QuickTime. You can try to install this in order to test this player.

Let me try and clear up the confusion. I have two computers. One has XP with the ArcSoft on it. The other has Vista with ArcSoft on it.

On the XP, box, I have tried to play the files from the Camileo. Also, I have transferred the files on to the computer. When I try and play the files with Windows Media Player 10, in ether case, the mouse freezes and Windows Media Player does not play the files. It remains blank. I also tried QuickTime, and I'm prompted by the computer that a plug in is needed, but it doesn't say which plug-in.

Because of this, I called Toshiba support, and they told me to download and install the VLC player. I did, and the same issue occurred as above. The mouse froze, but the player just had an image of the video.

With the XP box, I also have tried to pull the files directly from the SD card to the computer, but the computer doesn't even see the files on the card.

I suppose I could just use my computer that has Windows Vista, but I'd like to have the option to view files on any computer.

Do you have any advice on this?

Thanks!
Tonny

Ok…

Firstly: I assume you recorded the movie in Full HD.
So it seems that you software needs an codec. I think H.264 codec is needed.
Try to download the DivX 7 software. This software includes the H.264 codec.
Try to install also the K-Lite codec package.

I'm new to this, so please bear with me.

When I record, on the upper left of the screen it shows FH. I'm assuming this is HD, or should I record on another setting?

Also the DivX 7 and K-Lite is this free ware, and will it work for XP?

Thanks for your help on this!

In Camileo setup you can change the resolution settings so you can record the movies in HD or other resolution… for testing purposes you could record some sample movies using different resolutions and could test it.

From my knowledge this are freeware apps and should work with Win XP too

I installed the DivX & software. It is able to play HD movies that I shoot. But the audio is not synched up. Would you have a solution for this?

Also, I found this link for the K-Lite codec: http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm. In your opinion, which package should I download? I just want to download it in order to see if HD movies will play in synch with the audio using this.

Again, thanks for all of your input on this.

If you use 64bit, download the package for 64bit system
The other packages are basic, standard, full or mega…
Mega package seem contains some additional tools. I think its good to have everything :)

Thanks for the advice on this.

But I have what might be a very remedial question. As I mentioned at the beginning of this thread, I'm new to this. Sp lease bear with me :-)

How do I find out if I'm running a 64 bit system? And before I load the Mega package, do I need to download the 64 bit package?

Also, would you have any idea why in HD playback the sound is out of synch?

Again, thanks!

Go to control panel -> System and here you will see System Type; either its 32bit or 64bit system

Not quite sure about that but it could be possible that audio track runs with variable bitrate.

Try this:
Open avi file in Virtualdub and audio as wave (file -> save wave).
Now under Audio -> “audio from other file” load the saved wave file.

Do I then first need to download this and then the Mega package?

Thanks!

On the page you have posted above you can find this info:
For an optimal user experience it is highly recommended to install both the 64-bit pack and also one of the 32-bit variants from above. That way you can play your media files in both 32-bit and 64-bit applications.
