Hi,

my Z830 should have a SSD capacity of 128 GB (according specification).
If I open the property of C: it shows me only only 97.6 GB.
What is wrong? I would like to have the full 128 available.

Thanks and best regards

Nothing is wrong. On your SSD is not saved OS only. There is saved recovery image too.

Open disc management, check SSD partitions structure and let us know if 128 GB are there.
Full available? You will never have whole 128GB available.
What you can do is to read user’s manuals document, create recovery discs and after doing this you can remove partition with recovery image and so increase available SSD capacity.

There is everything ok mate.
You can check your SSD drive with Disk Management console.
Right click on Computer -> Manage

Here go to Disk Management and here all disks and partitions (also the hidden partitions) would be listed.

Thank you both,

the response is very helpful.
I found 3 hidden partitions.
1.46 GB recreation
8.00 GB sleeping mode
12.00 Primary

Which of them can be deleted without danger for the system and its performance. And how to delete?

Thanks a lot.

Would not recommend to delete any of this partitions.

The one partition contains the necessary files which are used in order to repair the OS in case something would be wrong with Windows OS.
The second hidden partition contains the HDD Recovery which allows you to reinstall the OS from HDD without the usage of Recovery disks.
So both are important files.

But you should definitely create a Recover disk (recover flash memory)
This will allow you to set the notebook back to factory settings if something would go wrong with the HDD or the partitions.

Hi,

I formatted the hdd cancelling all the partitions.

I installed a clean copy of W7 and used the code of the notebook to activate it ( must be W7 Home Premium 64 bit OEM of course ); I had to activated it by phone because the windows license is OA ( it has been factory activated ) and won't activate again automatically.

I downloaded the 3 or 4 drivers that Windows Update could not find from Toshiba website and made a ghost copy: this is my recovery disk.

I would never go back to the factory setting with all its useless softwares and partitions.

Just to share my experience.

Well, maybe some apps are not important, but many of the installed applications controls the additional features of the notebook. Don’t forget that an notebook is not a “common” PC. A lot of notebook features needs the software to functions properly… however, a self-built recovery disk (image) is always a great idea… I did it in the past too…
I configured my system and created an image disk using acronis image software… of course if created an Toshiba recover disk too in case I would need in the future.
