Atheros ar5008 wifi card not recognized on Equium A200

Hi there, I have a Equium A200 1V0 (PSAF5E)
I am running Windows 7 32bit.

I have recently upgraded my router to an Netgear DGND3700.
I have bought an Atheros AR5008 mini pci wifi card, the problem i am haveing is that my computer is not detecting it at all (device manager). i have tried the usual updated my bios tried several different drivers but still it will not be detected in device manager.

Any help would be appreciated as it is really doing my head in.

And you are 100% sure this card is compatible with the mainboard and your notebook can be upgraded with this WLAN card?
As far as i know BIOS update will not help at all. BIOS updates are offered to fix other stuff and not to offer better hardware support.

Hi there, I was told that if my laptop has a mini pci card already in it, it can be upgraded with another one.
I have looked around and there is no definite answers regarding this.

You are right about that. You will not be able to find some official document with the list of compatible parts.

I don’t know where you got this info about “upgrade with another one” and try to ask this person why do you have this problem now.
Fact is that you cannot use any card and compatibility is very important. Equium A200 is old notebook model and I don’t think you can use some newer cards with new standards.

Your Equium has originally Realtek 802.11g (RTL8187B) that uses, I think two antenna cables and you want to use standard n with three antenna cables. Am I right about that? How have you connected antenna cables?

Anyway, I recommend you to use the same WLAN card or, if you want to use card with better and faster data transfer rate buy small micro WLAN USB stick.

Hi, the new card came with 3 antennas and I installed them and plugged them in.
I was told by the person who sold it that it would be compatible.
I think I will keep on trying for a few more days
