Why does my Satellite A300 PSAG0A-02100Q not install audio drivers?

I have unsuccessfully downloaded (many times) the audio drivers from the Toshiba downloads to fix a no audio device installed problem on a Satellite A300 laptop operating Vista x32. Previously there has been sound . Have also had the computer rebuilt to solve the problem but this has not worked. Can anyone assist please.

Hi

I think you have tried a wrong driver.
Some of the A300 series supports an Conexant sound chip and some of this units are equipped with an Realtek sound chip… so you have to use the right driver for a sound card.

The Satellite A300 PSAG0A-02100Q supports an Realtek ALC268 (on board) sound chip and you need the Realtek HD sound driver.

Thank you for your reply. This is the audio driver I have been trying to download with no success. Any other suggestions? Would updating to Windows 7 help?

What have you done exactly? Have you tried to install OS using recovery DVD and test hardware with “factory settings”.
If not please do this. In my opinion it is the best way to test hardware functionality.
