the computer is 2 months old, the Wlan driver is up to date. the power options have been configured to be on maximum performance for Wlan etc etc.

Please be sure that you use the latest driver v9.2.0.419.0
To be honest, I had the same idea to disable the power saving for Wlan and it most cases this should functions… are you sure you have changed this in the same power plant which is used when the notebook is running in battery mode?
However, it would be also interesting to know if the L750 Satellite uses the same 802.11 Wlan standard as other notebooks do…
In device manager -> Wlan card properties -> Advanced tab …you can choose the 802.11 Wlan standard…
Would recommend checking this…
