DisplayPort at 2560x1440? (Tecra R850)

Hello,

I am thinking of buying a Tecra R850-1D8 to connect it to a Samsung LS27A850DS monitor (2560x1440 px). Both the laptop and the monitor have a DisplayPort, and if I am not mistaken, the Tecra R850 uses the QM67 Express chipset which should support resolutions up to 2560x1600.

HOwever, the Tecra R850 specifications specify a maximum resolution of 2048 x 1536 for the external monitor, which puzzles me. Can anyone tell me if the R850 supports an external 2560x1440 display via DisplayPort?

Hello

You can download user’s manuals and open page 111 to find info about DisplayPort but unfortunately there is no table with supported resolutions.

It is listed for HDMI only.
Try to talk with your local leader. Maybe they have one in show room and you can test it.

The notebook seems to support the AMD Radeon HD 6450M and the max supported resolution of display port is 2560x1600 / 32bit

Right, the AMD chip is in there, too...

So it is datasheet against datasheet - I guess I have to try and find a dealer who is willing to let me test (or test it for me).

Hello again,

It turned out that the dealer (which my employer has an exclusive contract with) could not deliver Toshiba notebooks with a US keyboard layout. Since this was an essential requirement for me, I had to go for a different brand instead.

This means that I will not be able to provide (but also no longer require) an answer to this question, I'm afraid.
