Can't copy media files on to Stor.e tv+ using LAN

If I try to copy movie files from my PC to my Stor.e TV+ using the network it fails. Any ideas?

I can see the Video folder and open it.
I've dropped a simple audio file onto it and that copies, but as soon as I try to do a movie file, it sits there attempting and then fails.

I get a msg saying to try again or to cancel.
I click cancel and it takes about 2 - 5 minutes for windows to respond and stop.

I'm running Win 7 Pro.
I have 8gb RAM and using a hardwired network.

What am I missing?

Does this mean that files with small size can be copied properly and you are not able to copy big size (movies) to the HDD?
Is it right?

Did you try to copy the data using USB port?
Check this! It would be interesting to know if this happens only using LAN connection!

Hello,

i have the same problem.

When I want to copy big files to my HDD, i became an error message. When I copy small files to my HDD it works.

Copying from my Computer to HDD work without any problems.

I have the same problem.

Cannot transfer large video files via the LAN, but when connected directly to the computer it copies correctly.

Small photo files transfer ok across the LAN.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate and have wired network.

Any help please.

Another one here!

I can transfer media files (or any file) across my home network to the hard disk as long as its less than 1.5GB.

Things I tried without success ...

Network transfer from a Vista PC (with or without Firewall on) (with network device set to half duplex)
Network transfer from an XP SP3 PC (same as above)
Transfer from a USB Flash Drive direct to the Stor.E TV+ local USB port!!
Network transfer from a Vista PC of a multi-part RAR compressed files (all 17 parts of 100MB transferred ok but failed when tried to extract it) ( a smaller 2 part rar file did extract ok as a check)

My conclusion is that there appears to be a filesize limit set in software (Samba?) to nobble large files.

I'm sure Toshiba could provide a Samba update to overcome this designed-in limit.

It will be interesting to see if anyone from Toshiba will respond to this. They wouldn't release a Multimedia Device that couldn't handle all media files would they??

More on this puzzling feature.

Having read the post about a direct connection to a PC working, I just checked on mine and yes it works!

Using the USB cable included with the kit, I connected to the USB Device (square USB socket) on the rear, and connected to my Vista laptop USB where I had copied the large video files.

I was able to transfer from the laptop HDD to Stor.E HDD without errors.

One issue I did discover is that one of the files being an mp4 didn't work and was flagged as being an 'invalid file'. Strange as mp4 is a supported file type according to the manual.

Hi,

Same problem here (STOR.E TV+, Wifi, 2TB).

It works OK when attached to USB (computer). It works OK when another HDD is attached (using the side USB port). However, the larger files would successfully be copied through neither LAN (Fast Ethernet) nor WLAN (802.11G; dongle connected to the rear USB port).

I guess the proper name (inspired by this forum) would be STOR.Y, because it's the same story all over again, and no support from Toshiba whatsoever.

Hi

I had some problems using the LAN connection with my StorE TV+
Somehow the IP address has not been assigned properly or the Store TV+ lost the IP address.
I called service partner in my country and the technician send me an firmware update which fix the IP issue.

But it seems that you can download this here too:
3,5 inch StorE TV+ 2.12_UI1.0 firmware

I have the same problem and I wasted many hours for troubleshooting.
I paid a lot of money for the equipment and got a scrap heap.
The support is ridiculous.
Toshiba never again.

If you have problems transferring large files to Stor.E TV+ (like I did) there is a simple workaround. There is a Microsoft utility called RichCopy 4 which is a wizz for transferring large files. Download it from Microsoft website. Enter source and destination locations and this neat piece of software takes care of the rest.
