I have an old SP6000 which for technical reasons I have had to format the hard drive.
Since doing so the PC will not boot up from CD or from Floppy.
The message I receive is - "PXE-E61 Media test failure check cable, PXE- M0F : exit Intel".
I have accesed F12 and tried changing boot up option but get the message above. I have also powered up whilst holding down Esc and pressed F1 after the "Check System" message and tried various setting for the boot up routine.
None of the settings work and I continually get the PXE message above.
The message appears because the notebook cannot find the bootable device except the LAN. In such case the notebook tries to boot from LAN but this is also not possible.
If you cannot boot from CD/DVD drive then one of the reasons might be an ODD malfunction. Maybe the drive laser lens is dirty and cannot read the inserted bootable disks…
Usually you should be able to boot from CD/DVD drive pressing C button while notebook is booting up.
Of course F12 should work too…
Furthermore you should check the HDD if it’s not faulty…
