Hi,

I've got an Satellite Pro L770 notebook running Windows 7. My problem is that when my mobile broadband drops out my mouse freezes and I can only shut down using the "off" button because CTRL/ALT/DEL won't work in closing down program.

Any ideas anyone????

Padi.

But if you don’t use mobile broadband everything is OK, right?
Do you use touchpad or external mouse?

Hi, thanks for the reply, yes all o.k. apart from the mobile broadband problem and both my mouse and the touchpad are inoperable when the laptop freezes.

Hi

I assume you are using Wlan connection. Right?
Did you try to update the Wlan driver in order to solve the drop outs?
Do that.

Furthermore would recommend disabling the power saving for WLan in Windows 7 power managements.

Thanks for the reply MasterG, I'll disable the power saving as you suggest.
My mobile broadband plugs into the laptop usb slot and looks like one of those thumb drive things - not sure if that's a Wlan connection or not, bear with me mate, I'm no computer expert by any means.
I'll post a reply to this in a couple of days and let you know if the problem persists.
Thanks again and all the best to you, Padi.

Hi again MasterG, well I didn't have any lockups for about a week after making those changes, but today it started again. Do you have any more ideas mate, if not is there any other way of shutting down my laptop without doing a power off - which I've been told is not too good for the computer. CTRL/ALT/DELETE doesn't work when it's locked up.
Tahks for your help, Padi.

This seems to be an external USB device from 3rd party manufacturer.
Did you check the manufacture page for some suggestions or possible solutions?
Maybe there are some new driver updates for this device.

As this device is connected to the USB port I would also recommend disabling the power saving for USB ports.

In device manager expand the USB controller section. Here click right on USB root Hubs and go to properties. In Power Management tab remove the mark from option: Allow disable device to safe power. Do this for all USB devices.

Do you have the notebook problems if this USB devices is not connected?

Hi, no solutions from manufacturer and the drivers are up to date.

I can't seem to find the place to disable power saving as you described, I've opened USB page and there doesn't seem to be a Power Management tab on that page.
I'm running Windows 7.

There are no problems with the notebook except when the Mobile Broadband drops out and the laptop freezes. The laptop was only bought in late December 2011.

Is there any way to shut the laptop down except by pressing the power button and forcing a shutdown?
Thanks a lot for your help and all the best,

Padi.
