Power On problems with Tecra M11-10Z
Posted: 04-Oct-2011 09:04

We are having problems with our Tecras.
When they are used in the field, the problem we have is the same on 75 machines and its they can`t be turned on at all.

Sometimes it helps to dismount battery, sometimes it it dosent and the laptop cant turn on the next couple of days, and then it runs fine again until it does it again..

How can this be, its starting to be a very big problem..

We have tried to disable the TPM and they are running the newest bios update, they are all running windows 7 pro 32bit..

I hope this is enough info because my english isnt that great, and i hope someone have solved this problem..

Hi,

Has aftermarket Memory (RAM) been added to those notebooks?

Are they often left in Hibernation or Suspend mode? If the battery goes flat while in those modes, it can cause POST problems.

Hi

I have noticed that new BIOS has been released for the Tecra M11 series.
Try to update the BIOS and check if this could improve the notebook’s functionality.

Good luck

Hmm… strange… you said you have tested the RAM modules.
Maybe it would be worth to check the notebook with new memory modules… otherwise the issue could has something to do with motherboard malfunction… but this is just a suggestion…

We have now tested the laptops with Transcend and Kingston memory, and the problems seems to be gone, but the original ram still tests ok..

So the Samsung memory in these models is not a good idea from factory.... So i guess this is a warranty case on all our laptops :/

Correct
We have now tested with Transcend and Kingston memory and all the problems seems to be solved.
So i guess we have around 70 laptops that needs memory change on warranty, because the Samsung Memory installed from factory dosent work, but they still test ok..

Seems it’s compatibility problem with the Samsung modules…
But thanks for the feedback that the modules from Transcend and Kingston work properly!
