Hi

Maybe your issue is related to the Ubuntu bug as described in this Ubuntu forum:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/646405

So it seems that this is not Toshiba notebook issue so it look like you should visit the Linux forums to get more info about that…

Hi

May I ask, did You use Windows on this unit before moving on to Ubuntu?
If yes, did the battery monitor work as expected in Windows?

The reason for asking is that I believe there is a BIOS bug existing for the L650-series that causes the battery to not charge under certain conditions.

Such an issue may cause strange effects in the Gnome power manager in Ubuntu.

Hmm...maybe I am mistaking. Looking at the model number of your unit and comparing with the BIOS revision information stated on Toshiba.com (seems to be the same BIOS'es for a similar model) there are no fixes for battery charging there.

So maybe I am misleading You here.

Anyway, still it is interesting to know if the battery monitoring was working properly in Windows.
