I'm a complete novice when it comes to Linux/Ubuntu - so I'm hoping someone can help me in relatively plain language here.
I have an NB100 11R running Ubuntu.
After a recent ubuntu update my wifi Modem has "dissappeared" from the GUI.
In short from the GUI in Administration / Network Services in the connections tab I now only see the Options for "Wired Connection" & "Point-to-point connection" where I previously also had a WIFI option.
I presume this is something like a driver needing reinstalling, but I can't find any details so grateful if anyone has any pointers.
(Re)Install linux-restricted modules / network-manager / network-manager-gnome. This ist the driver for Atheros-WLAN and more . Do it using Synaptic. If you don't find Synaptic in section System edit main-menue. Synaptic is installed, but by default not shown.
I have bought a toshiba nb100r netbook with the ubuntu 8.04 operating system, it works perfectly fine but I cannot connect to the internet, when I go on to the manual configuration under the internet icon and then under th connections tab the option for a wireless connection is not there, there is only wired and point to pont connection, any ideas on how to get this problem fixed please. Many thanks.
