Hi there, I have a strange issue with a NB200 netbook.
The screen resolution is set to 1024x768 with the lowest resolution to be set is 800x600 as a result neither setting displays properly on the netbook screen and the start button, taskbar etc is missing.
The native resolution for this machine should be 1024x600 - however, this is not available within the list of resolution steps which can be chosen.
These are the steps which have been taken so far;
1) Restore the machine back to factory default settings - wiping the machine back to the original settings - resolution set to 1024x768
2) Load the latest BIOS just to see if the BIOS had any effect - didn't think it would but tried anyway.
3) Uninstall the graphics adaptor and re-install from the Toshiba europe website (intel mobile 945 (r) express chipset)
Graphics adaptor installed o.k. lowest resolution is 800x600 and the 1024x600 option is not available.
4) Noted that the default monitor is always listed as 'digital flat panel 1024x768'
At the moment the only way to use this is with an external monitor.
At the moment this thing is useless as a netbook - has anyone any ideas to try as I'm out of ideas with this one.
Everything what you have done is correct and you have tried everything but if resetting to factory settings doesn’t help and screen resolution is automatically 1024x768 again it must be a serious hardware malfunction. I can imagine something with graphic card itself is not ok and so the monitor properties can’t be detected properly.
You should contact an authorized service provider in your country. The guys can check the hardware and replace it. I don’t know how old your notebook is and if it’s under warranty but hardware repair under warranty is free. That means the technicians can fix this for free but otherwise you have to pay for repair.
So easiest way is you contact with the guys and talk with them. I’m sure you can clarify this with the technicians.
