Hello,

I own a nb200 netbook and this evening it froze when I was surfing. When I try to restart my schreen goes black (blinking cursor top left schreen).

When I try to activate recovery (pressing "0" or "F2 ") schreen goes black again with ****HDD RECOVERY MODE**** (left bottom schreen) and stops there.

Does any body have a clue?

Greetings
MisterX

Hi

Looks like a HDD issue for me.
I had a similar issue with the same blinking cursor. In my case the HDD has died.
I had to replace the HDD and to reinstall the system again.

In your case I would recommend checking the BIOS.
Check if the HDD is listed there and recognized properly. All HDD details should be listed. If HDD is not listed in BIOS, then I would recommend replacing this part.

Hi petermartens,

What NB200 model you have exactly? The HDD recovery option is described here:
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

Have you created a recovery medium as mentioned in user manual? If yes you can try booting from recovery USB stick with recovery files. The recovery installation will wipe the HDD and restore the original factory settings.

If it doesn’t work it looks like a hardware malfunction. MisterX could be right, this can be a HDD issue…
