Fn+F8 -->"wifi is not enabled. turn on the switch "
Posted: 22-Apr-2011 13:56

Hello,

I reinstallled the Windows 7 64bit from recovery DVD and I noticed a problem that Flash Cards Utility don't work. So I downloaded Value Added Package.
Now, the Flash Cards is appearing, but when I press Fn+F8, I get this message: "Wifi is not enabled. turn on the switch! "

Sry for imperfect grammar!

If you have small WLAN switch on your notebook set it to position ON at first. After doing this use FN+F8 key combination.

Which notebook model do you have exactly?

It is always problematic to fix such problems. All you can do is to reinstall VAP or Flash card support utility.

I recommend you to back up all your data and install OS again using Toshiba recovery image. After doing this you will have clean preinstalled OS and everything will work properly again.

If the WLAN card is installed properly try to enable WLAN card using FN+F8 key combination.
Does it work?

Correct
Hi

I don’t know what notebook you have but in some cases the WLan needs to be enabled in BIOS too. Furthermore many notebooks support an additional Wlan switch at the front side…

You should also check if the WLan driver is installed properly. This is one of the requirements in order to get WLan enabled.

The Wifi was switched off in BIOS. A trivial problem. :) Thank you guys!
