Presently A F A I K on Linux there's not key combination that solves the problem, but a little fiddling with the modules will do.
Of course this involves command run as root, so before executing them consider you may damage the system. I will say what I did and not what you should do.
It works for me using the 'omnibook' module on my Ubuntu lucid 32-bit on the nb200 and stock kernel 2.6.32-22. I had no to compile the newer release of the omnibook module code, as many suggest, I just used the one shipped with ubuntu (2.20090707-trunk)
#modprobe omnibook ectype=12
now /proc/omnibook is correctly populated for me
#ls
blank bluetooth display dmi lcd temperature throttling version wifi
and then I issue:
#echo 0 >/proc/omnibook/wifi
to disable the wi-fi adapter
and
#echo 1 >/proc/omnibook/wifi
to enable the wi-fi adapter.
There's no binding for an Hotkey but I could be doable, using xev and gconf-editor on Gnome. So If you can manage it without having a Microsoft OS installed. Of course, before removing it I would try very well if it's correctly working on my system.
