NB-200 can't handle Compatible mode for HDD Contoller...

Hello everybody !
I would like to make work on my nb 200 netbook ubuntu 10.04 netbook edition. Installation is done, grub working fine (I kept windows xp and have dualboot managed by grub). Of course I asked first in the ubuntu forum to solve my problems. I believed It was done but in fact it wasn't. See on the ubuntu forum to have more informations : http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=9346966&postcount=1
Switching HDD Controller (in the bios) to Compatible mode works fine for ubuntu, but Windows XP have problems. XP is launched (I see the welcome screen) but then the computer reboot. I upgraded the Bios to 1.9 version (02/2010), but this doesn't fix my problem.
In the ubuntu threat a very kin helper (darkod) says :
You can try it, but if changing the controller type makes a difference, I'm not sure it will help. This doesn't seem related to ubuntu.
I'm surprised changing the controller to compatible made XP not boot. If that is a sata hdd you have, on the contrary, the compatible mode is needed to even install XP because it doesn't include SATA drivers in it.
I guess it depends how the manufacturer set the netbook.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have tested WXP functionality on my Satellite with both AHCI mode and if the WXP was preinstalled with enabled SATA mode it will not work when the mode is changed to compatibility option. I get blue screen every time if I want to start WXP.

I believe you must make decision what to do. If you want to use both operating systems I think you must change AHCI mode to compatibility and install Linux and WXP again.
Then it will works well but you will not have full HDD performance under WXP as when you use SATA mode.

After seraching on the Web I found a bug report on ubuntu site : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/577651
I try this trick out and, indeed, it works, but that's not a good solution. Should I contact the technical support? How can I contact it without calling?
Here's my post about my Web search : http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=9386900&postcount=17

Thanks in advance

Why without calling?
If your notebook model is supported for Linux you can call them but if not they will not help you at all.

The problem is that I'm using a nb200 netbook, I have no CD. Restoriation system is available on the last partition of my disk. If I switch to Compatible support of sata, I can't access this part of my hardrive... So The restoration process can only take place when ahci mode is enable !
Maybe I will try to call the support...

Well I did it !
I was surprised that the person on the other side of the line tried to give me a solution. The solution was yours assex. A complete reinstallation of xp after switching to compatible mode, then reinstallation of ubuntu.
You must know at this stage that I have to do this for 11 other Toshiba nb200 (I'm a schoolteacher in a very small town of France and I do it for my children). So I don't think I will do this reinstallation (I didn't have the required CD anyway to reinstall xp !).
I will continue to boot Ubuntu by hitting some key several times after grub launching (found this fix here : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/577651), this was the way I had the best result for booting (about 30 seconds !). Maybe this will be fixed in a while. I hope so !
Thanks ;)
