Satellite A200 dark screen

Hi everybody,

I have a problem with my screen. Suddenly it went dark. The LCD panel is ok and a external monitor works as well. I am sure it is not too expensive to repair.

Anybody an idea how much I have to invest in a service for this?

The cost depends on the faulty part…
It seems that this issue is not related to the graphic card issue because the external monitor is ok.

Why you are sure that LCD panel is ok?
Can you see something on the notebook’s display???

If yes then the issue can be related to FL inverter. Such part is not expensive but it’s tricky to replace it and I think the best would be to get in contact with an local ASP.
The authorized service partner could provide all needed info about the costs and how to handle this…

When you start your notebook can you see anything at the beginning or the display is dark from the beginning?

In worst case the display must be replaced. Google around and you can find prices for LCD display but how much the replacement will costs I cannot say for sure.
Do you want to exchange it alone?

thanks for your answer.
Yes I can see all the icons on the display, so I guess it's just the backlight that did not work.
The FL inverter was my intention as well, but hesitate to open the lid. As you wrote it's tricky.
I will see if there is a service provider around.

well. i can see the icons on the LCD panel with the help of a torch

So i guess it's just the backlight or the FL converter.
I will take it to the service provider somwhere around,
