Equium P300-16T Graphics Driver shuts down

Hi, I'm trying to play an online game but my graphics driver keeps shutting down for about 5 seconds while playing. I think the laptop should be able to handle the game (I even turn the settings right down) but the screen keeps going black and then I get a pop up bottom right saying the driver has recovered from an error. There is no error code or anything, it just fails and says "display driver has stopped responding and has recovered"

It's very irritating, are there any possible solutions?

I play call of duty 4 often online with my Satellite P300 and it works perfectly. No graphic problems and also no WLAN interrupts.
Is your notebook preinstalled with recovery image?
Do you use Toshiba display driver for this notebook model?

By the way, I think Intel GL960 graphic card is also not the best one for gaming.
Which game do you play at least?

Hi

As far as I know this notebook is equipped with Intel graphic card and this is not the best one for gaming but the display driver shouldn’t stop responding.

Have you already tried to update the driver? You should check the Toshiba page for an update. Before you install the newest version you should remove the old one first and restart the notebook.

Can you also notice that the notebook is getting hot? I ask this because maybe it’s overheating and should be cleaned with compressed air spray to blow out the dust.

-I'm not sure, sorry.

Do you use Toshiba display driver for this notebook model?

-Again, not sure. I've made no modifications or bought any upgrades for the display driver.

By the way, I think Intel GL960 graphic card is also not the best one for gaming.

This laptop in general is awful, I really regret buying it and if I ever get another will not be going with Toshiba.

I'm playing Ether Saga Online.

-See I'm looking in the device manager and I can't even find a display driver. I have no idea how to update it, and I looked all over the Toshiba site for a "display driver update" but simply couldn't find one.

The notebook is not getting too hot, at least not that I can feel.

You don’t know if are using the preinstalled OS by Toshiba?

The notebooks came with a preinstalled OS. So if you didn’t change anything then the notebook should have preinstalled Toshiba image.

To be honest mate, I think you are a newbie and therefore you have no experience with notebooks… so I will try to help you.

First of all you have to read the user manual.
There you can find info that you should create a Recovery disk using preinstalled tool called Recovery disk Creator. Recovery disk is always useful and important.

The error message “display driver has stopped responding and has recovered” can appears because your online game is not fully compatible with the graphic card driver.
An graphic card driver update might help.

You should not look for “display driver update” but for display driver!!!
Usually the Toshiba European page provide always the driver for the own notebook series.

The notebook uses the Intel GL960 graphic chip.
The newest graphic card driver can be found on Intel page.

Now some words about yoru last statement which was….
This laptop in general is awful, I really regret buying it and if I ever get another will not be going with Toshiba.

You have no notion about the hardware specifications… if you are game and want to play games, why you buy an notebook with Intel graphic card?! You should order a notebook which has been equipped with nVidia or ATI GPU. Intel graphic cards are not recommended for gaming!

Anyway… I hope you can solve this issue by GPU driver update
