Portege R500 (PPR50E) speaker does not mute when headphone connected

Hi,

I am using Toshiba Portege R500 (PPR50E) with Windows XP Professional (SP3).

The problem is the laptop speaker doesnot mute when I connect the headphone. The audio is coming from both headphone and the laptop speakers. This is verymuch irritating when doing voice chat. Is there any solution for this issue?

Hi

I assume you have an Realtek sound chip.
In control panel you should find the Realtek HD audio Manager.

The tab called Audio I/O contains settings.
I don’t remember exactly how they are calling but you will see the audio jacks.
There you have to click right and have to change the setting.

Hi

On my Toshiba notebook I have a Realtek sound chip too and as Paolo30 wrote you can change this with few clicks in Realtek HD audio manager.
Check this!!!

If it doesn’t work you should update the driver and here you can get a newer version:

Thank you very much syntax. I had to upgrade the sound driver. Now it is working perfect.
