Satego X200-21D - possibilty for 8GB of ram ?

Is there a possibility to run 8GB DDR2 ram (2x4GB) on this laptop ? Or new bios is needed ? Will be there in future one, that will grant this ?

Hi

No, you cannot upgrade this notebooks memory to 8GB.
The notebooks user manual said that you can upgrade it up to 4GB with mobile Intel PM965 Express chipset.

i think this information is not correct. (probably it was written, when there wasnt any 4GB SO-DIMM module on the market.)

Seems you’ve got a tiny lack of knowledge.

Look here into this Intel document and check the Intel PM965 Express chipset properties:

Intel PM965 Express chipset supports max 4GB RAM!!!!

So now everything should be clear!

there stays:

The Mobile IntelÂ® 965 Express Chipset Family supports a main memory
size up to 8GB.

So nothing is clear. Maybe for you.

and your link to ducument, meeen, are you serious ? there stays June 2007, heh, its 1.5 year old. (in that time there wasnt any singl 4GB SO-DIMM) Now it is.

Come on man. Check it exactly!!
This document contains details about the whole Intel 965 Express chipset family.

You have to look into the chapter where the Intel PM965 is mentioned (Chapter 1.1.2)

And it’s NO matter how old this doc is!!! Do you think that Intel would not know what the own product support???

Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family contains Intel PM965, Intel GM965 and Intel GL960 chipset
The notebook was equipped with the Intel PM965 and you have to read the details about Intel PM965!!!!

If you don't believe then buy 2x 4GB RAM modules and try to upgrade the notebook but please don't wonder if the notebook will not support it.
