Hi,

I have a problem with a laptop.
It is running windows 2000 and will not load the operating system.

I think someone has changed the boot.ini file on the pc,
Now when it gets turned on it displays the windows 2000 operating system, as well as another one under it called windows 2000 picture operating system.
I believe some one has tried to change the boot picture but made an error in the boot.ini file and now it wont boot from it.

So i think the boot.ini file is now incorrect and not finding the operating system.
Is there any way of changeing this and getting the operating system to load?
Jaba

If you are sure that only the boot.ini was changed then you could check this Microsoft website and article about boot.ini in Windows 2000.

There you can find details how a boot.ini works and what you have to change.

If there is a problem with the file that is being edited, copy the original Boot.ini file that was backed up to the %systemroot% folder. you can use vistabootpro, it can work win2k also, make changes to the Windows Boot Configuration Data (BCD) registry quickly and easily.
