Satellite U200-179 does not boot often after Ubuntu Live CD installation

I'm trying to install Ubuntu edgy on my new laptop toshiba U200-179.
I can install linux without problems from the live CD but when I try to reboot the pc, often it does not boot.
During the bootstrap linux runs the utility to check the filesystem and, even if it seems that all is ok the boot stops.
I tryed also a different distribution (Knoppix 5.01) but with this one the installing procedure stops at the beginning.
What could be the problem?

Have you upgraded to the latest BIOS available (3.30)? The previous one (2.40) had issues with some Linux distributions...

BIOS 3.3 has some improvements, but it still didn't fix BIOS bug:
BIOS Bug: MCFG area at f0000000 is not E820-reserved
