Technical Support Forums Reward Points
What are reward points?

Back to the topback to top
Reward points are a virtual currency users can use to encourage others to answer their questions. Question authors can decide to assign reward points to their topic by selecting the "Helpful Answer" or "Correct Answer" buttons on the replies to their topic. Replies marked as "Helpful Answer" are assigned 5 reward points and replies marked as "Correct Answer" are assigned 10 reward points. Each question topic can be given two "Helpful Answer" pointers, but only one "Correct Answer" pointer can be selected. Once these selections are made they can not be changed, so please select replies which deserve to be marked as "Helpful" or as "Correct".

Simple calculations are then done to compute the top users (by reward point) in certain categories or overall. Reward point summaries are displayed in each user's profile page.
How can I keep track of the status level I have earned?

Back to the topback to the top
Your member profile reflects the Status Level you have earned to date. Your status level is tracked based on the earned reward points you have obtained through your replies to topics being marked as "Helpful" or "Correct". Reward points earned are displayed in brackets beside the Status Level. Your Status Level is visible to other community members, providing you an opportunity to establish yourself as an expert in a given discussion area. You can view your Status Level and points earned by clicking the above "My Profile" menu point.
How do I assign points?

Back to the topback to the top
Only the question author can assign reward points to a given response. If you submit a new topic with the "Mark this thread as a question" box ticked, and another member replies to your question, you will see two buttons; "Helpful Answer" and "Correct Answer" next to the reply (you must be logged in to see this). Click on the button, which gives the best response to the reply. Note that you can select two "Helpful Answer" pointers, but only one "Correct Answer" pointer. Once these selections are made, they can not be changed so please select replies which deserve to be marked as "Helpful" or as "Correct".
How many points should I assign to replies?

Back to the topback to the top
Every response to your question is eligible to be marked as "Helpful" or "Correct", and hence receive reward points. Note that the topic must be marked as a question to be eligible for reward points. When a truly awesome reply comes in that deserves a "Correct Answer" pointer, you can mark it so! However, try to mark answers as "Helpful" or "Correct" based on the true value it provides. Use the following scale as a guideline:

N/A: The answer was simply a point of clarification to my original question or the answer did not really help answer my question.
5 Reward points 5 : The answer helped with a portion of my question, but I still need some additional help!
10 Reward points 10 : The answer has solved my problem completely!
What is a top user? How do I become a top user?

Back to the topback to the top
Top users are individuals who have collected a number of points for answering postings. A user who has posted a question assigns the respondent a number of awards points by marking a respondent's replies as "Helpful" or "Correct". 5 reward points are assigned for a "Helpful Answer" and 10 reward points are assigned for a "Correct Answer". The individual users collect these points.

There are five levels of user groups in the Toshiba Technical Support Forums, based on the number of points that a user has earned. These include:

Beginner - 0-49 pts
Enthusiast - 50-149 pts
Aficionado - 150-299 pts
Scholar - 300-699 pts
Master - 750-upward pts
